" The Scene " refers to the LGBT bars and clubs...
Brooks Brooks is an LGBT bar open from the early evening, Wednesday to Sunday. Friendly bar staff, sometimes entertainment and DJs on in the evening. Find it in St Andrew's Lane - cross the road from the bus station, go up St Andrew's Street, and take the first right just before the Sony Centre shop. You'll see the flag above the door. Open Wednesday and Thursday 7pm to midnight, Friday to Sunday 3pm to midnight.
The Klozet The Klozet is in the Seagate, along from the bus station and is the new name for Dundee's long established gay bar, known for many years as The Gauger. Open Sunday 1230pm to midnight, all other days 11am to midnight.
The Salty Dog The Salty Dog is in Crichton Street, across the road from the Primark / Boots side of the Overgate and is a new gay bar in Dundee. Open Sunday to Tuesday, 4pm to midnight, Wednesday and Thursday 2pm to midnight, and Friday and Saturday 11am to midnight.

Abode is open Monday to Saturday, 11am to midnight and 1230pm to midnight on Sunday. It is also in St Andrew's Street. Food is now being served Monday to Saturday, midday to 7pm. Also karaoke on some nights

Out Nightclub Out Nightclub is the only LGBT club in Tayside. It is open from 11pm Tuesday to Sunday, with the music being dance orientated ( although not exclusively! ) on Friday and Saturday and more retro on Sundays. If there is no door staff when you enter - rattle the inside door! As with most nightclubs, there is a charge to enter. It is located in St Andrew's Street, opposite the bus station.

Off The Scene...

In addition to all of the above, there are a number of cafes, bars etc which we would term LGBT ‘friendly’…

Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre, commonly known as DCA is at the end of the Nethergate in Dundee, not far from the University. The award winning building houses two cinemas whose programme often includes LGBT interest films. There is also a gallery where stunning exhibitions of contemporary art constantly challenge the preconceptions of the locals. ‘Jute’ the Centre’s stylish café-bar has proved an incredibly popular addition to Dundee’s social scene. The food may not be cheap but it is generally worth it. A place to see and be seen.

The Social is on South Tay Street, opposite DCA. Again very contemporary and quite trendy in a funky way with decent food.

Het Theatrecafe is based in Dundee’s Rep Theatre also on South Tay Street. A great place to have a quiet drink with friends. The food is excellent and reasonably priced but it’s best to book if you want to eat there.

Braes is situated on Perth Road, opposite the University. Excellent inexpensive food up until about 7.30pm, and various drinks promotions on weekday nights. VERY LGBT friendly!
